The IDCE Breakout Sessions program will include educational tracks on numerous topics throughout the entire disaster cycle. Certified Emergency Manager Overview, Prep Course and Exam Sessions by the International Association of Emergency Managers.

IDCE is pleased to announce that IAEM will present a Certified Emergency Manager Overview program, complete with an exam preparatory course and exam sessions at IDCE.

    (MUST REGISTER THROUGH IAEM)

IAEM offers the Certified Emergency Manager/Associate Emergency Manager Exam Preparatory Course, which includes review of CEM® program requirements (experience, education, professional contributions and more) as well as explanation of the AEMSM program requirements; application procedures, tips for successful program completion; an overview of the CEM®/AEMSM exam, the standards upon which the exam is based, sample exam questions along with a Q&A period. Please come prepared to ask specific questions related to the program and/or to your personal credentials submission.

The CEM®/AEMSM Exam Prep Course is intended for professional emergency managers interested in obtaining the CEM®/AEMSM designation. A Certified Emergency Manager is an individual who possesses the knowledge, skills and abilities to effectively manage a comprehensive disaster/emergency management program.

The CEM®/AEMSM Overview session is an hour long presentation introducing interested candidates to the Certified Emergency Manager and the Associate Emergency Manager designation. Candidates will receive a broad overview of CEM®/AEMSM program requirements, as well as review the process for applying for the CEM®/AEMSM certification.

IAEM will NOT recognize your registration for the Preparatory Course and Exam until you register through the IAEM website and pay associated fees.

National Emergency Management Association to Present at IDCE

IDCE is pleased to announce that NEMA will present sessions at IDCE regarding the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) and NEMA’s efforts to establish a North American Mutual Aid Agreement. The Emergency Management Assistance Compact is an interstate mutual aid agreement that allows States to assist one another in responding to all kinds of natural and manmade disasters. It is administered by the National Emergency Management Association (NEMA). Model Intrastate Mutual Aid Legislation was produced by NEMA in concert with DHS/FEMA and a cross-section of emergency response disciplines to facilitate intrastate mutual aid among participating political subdivisions in a State. The Association of Contingency Planners to present sessions serving Business Continuity Professionals; will hold Regional Directors Meeting at IDCE2012.

Led by the efforts of the Southeast Louisiana Chapter (SELA), ACP will present sessions at IDCE2012 designed to initate discussion regarding the most pressing topics affecting Business Continuity when disaster strikes. From implications on Small Business operations to the global economic threat of enterprise supply chain disruptions, ACP leadership will present opportunities through panels and break-out sessions to discuss current trends within both the public and private sector.

riaThe Restoration Industry Association to present numerous sessions serving Restoration Professionals and Emergency Management Officials, including RIA Certification Credits (CECs)

RIA leadership will present a number of sessions at IDCE2012 discussing issues and topics not only effecting the Disaster Restoration Professional, but impacting the decisions and thought processes of public-sector Emergency Management leadership shaping the procedures utilized in disaster preparation, response, and recovery.

As the voice of the restoration professional, RIA sessions will illustrate the importance of the role of the restoration process in planning and executing disaster response and recovery operations. The RIA will also present numerous sessions to educate and sharpen skills of the Restoration Professional. RIA Continuing Education Credits are available for those professionals attending IDCE2012 conference sessions who are seeking Certified Restorer Certification.

International Association of Venue Managers to Present Panel on Mega-Sheltering and Conference Sessions on Severe Weather Plans in the Public Venues

IDCE is pleased to announce that IAVM will present an expert panel program of public venue managers, emergency management officials, and others from both the public and private sector regarding Emergency Mega-Sheltering in the Emergency Management Plan. In addition, IAVM will offer "Severe Weather Plans" sessions at IDCE for the numerous venue managers attending IDCE to meet with the Emergency Management sector and review equipment and services available to respond to emergency situations. Attainium Corp to present The Disaster Experience at IDCE

IDCE is pleased to announce that Attainium Corp will present "The Disaster Experience" on Wednesday January 18, 2012 at IDCE! This session has been designed to put you in the throes of a real-life disaster situation, as it unfolds. You will make the critical decisions any organization will have to make - and deal with the consequences of those decisions! After you've finished, you'll understand the importance of planning in advance for a disaster or other business disruption.

Session participants will:

  • Understand the basic principles of emergency management and how they apply to Business Continuity Planning and effective risk management
